App Store keyword field optimiser

The App Store keyword field holds 100 characters. Apple says to separate terms with commas and no spaces, and to skip words already in your app name, subtitle or category, plurals of words you have, filler words and generic words like “app”. Paste your field below and this tool removes all of that for you.

Your keyword field never leaves this browser tab. We don't send, save or log it.

How to use the optimiser

  1. 1

    Paste your keyword field

Copy it from App Store Connect, in the language you want to clean. Separate words with commas, the way Apple wants.
  2. 2

Add your app name and subtitle

Optional, but it lets the tool drop words you already rank for from those fields.
  3. 3

    Copy the cleaned field

Check the list of removed words, then paste the result back into App Store Connect. Use the characters you saved for new words.

What it removes, and why

  • Spaces after commas. Each one is a wasted character.
  • Repeats. A word only needs to be in the field once.
  • Words in your name or subtitle. Apple already searches those fields.
  • Plurals of words you have. Apple treats “climbs” and “climb” as duplicates.
  • Filler and generic words. “The”, “to”, “app” and “game” add nothing, says Apple.
  • Phrases split into words (you can turn this off). “voice memo” becomes “voice, memo”, which saves the space. Turn it off if the exact phrase matters to you.

Questions people ask

How many characters is the App Store keyword field?

100 characters in total. Apple says to separate terms with commas and no spaces. People never see this field; only App Store search reads it.

Should I put spaces after commas in the keyword field?

No. Apple's own example is “Property,House,Real Estate”: commas, no spaces. A space after a comma is a wasted character. You can still use a space inside a phrase like “real estate”.

Should I repeat words from my app name in the keywords?

No. Apple says not to repeat words that are already in your app name, subtitle or category. They are already searched, so repeating them only uses up space you could give to a new word.

Do I need both singular and plural keywords?

No. Apple's search page says to avoid plurals of words you already have, such as “climbs” and “climb”, because they are treated as duplicates. Keep one form, usually the singular.

Is my keyword field saved or sent anywhere?

No. This tool runs only in your browser. The field is never sent to our server, saved or logged. Close the tab and it is gone.

Does Google Play have a keyword field?

No. Google Play has no hidden keyword field. It reads your app name, short description and full description, so put your keywords there in natural sentences.
