Long names can be cut off in search. Put the important words first.

A simplified preview. Words of your main search are highlighted.

How to play with it

  1. 1

Pick an example, or start blank

The voice notes example starts with a weak listing on purpose. Fix it and watch the score climb.
  2. 2

    Type your main search

The words people type to find apps like yours. They light up green wherever they appear in your listing.
  3. 3

    Follow the next step

The orange box always shows one thing to fix. Each fix ticks a rule and moves your app up in the preview.
  4. 4

    Copy or share

Copy all fields into App Store Connect or Play Console, or share the draft as a link with your team.

Questions people ask

What does the listing score measure?

Seven plain rules the free audit also checks on live apps: your app name uses most of its characters, holds your main search, says what the app does, the second line is used well, there are no risky words like “best” or “free”, no word is repeated, and (App Store) the keyword field is full and tidy.

Is the preview exactly what the store shows?

It's a simplified version of a search result and an app page, so you can see your words in place. Real stores change layouts by device and country, and long names can be cut off, so keep the important words first.

Is my draft saved or sent anywhere?

It's saved only in your own browser, so it's there when you come back. Nothing is sent to us. “Share this draft” puts the draft in the link itself, so only people you give the link to can see it.

What should my main search be?

The words most people type to find an app like yours, like “expense tracker” or “voice notes”. Not your brand: people don't search for a name they haven't heard. Not sure? Check a few searches with our free Search checker.

How long can my app name be?

30 characters on the App Store (subtitle 30, keyword field 100). On Google Play the name is 30 characters and the short description 80.
